General Information

One of the most important decisions a young person will make while in high school is the choice of a college to attend.  If the student is fortunate enough to be academically qualified as well as athletically, then opportunities exist to secure a college scholarship.  WAFC has partnered with the Sports Source, one of the country’s foremost college planning programs. This program works with the student-athlete and their parents in the process of finding the right school based on academic, athletic, social, financial and geographic needs.

The Sport Source program is designed to serve the high school age student and their parents, by providing them with answers to questions both academically and athletically.  The WAFC player will have an understanding of how the college process works and will have a basic outline to be used, starting their freshman year continuing through their senior year.  The program provides information in these areas:

·      College Preparation and Processes

·      NCAA Eligibility Requirements- ACT/SAT, Clearinghouse

·      College Athletics- What does it take to play college soccer?

·      College Research Information/Assistance

·      Admissions-Universities, State and Public Colleges, Junior Colleges, ect

·      College Contact Preparation- Resume (player profile), Cover Letter

·      Recruiting Rules and Regulations/Players recruiting themselves to colleges

The program will also provide knowledge on such topics as:  what can soccer programs offer-the realities of financing, interesting facts and myths about college soccer, what to ask during the recruiting process, and finding the right college – A player’s story.
